Built on Service, Responsibility, and Attention to Detail

Huser’s Outdoor Design + Build has served residential and commercial property owners throughout Greater Indianapolis since 1998. Owner Christopher Huser brought values shaped by his background as a firefighter into the business, including hard work, discipline, responsibility, service to others, and close attention to detail. Those principles continue to influence how we approach every property and customer relationship.

What began as Huser’s Firefighter Lawn + Landscape has grown into Huser’s Outdoor Design + Build. Over 28 years in business, our capabilities have expanded from traditional landscaping into thoughtful outdoor design and construction. Today, we create landscapes, paver patios, outdoor kitchens, fire features, complete outdoor living spaces, and renovations for existing landscapes and hardscapes.

Christopher Huser built the business around a simple idea: customers should have a landscaping contractor that communicates clearly, considers the entire outdoor environment, and takes the time to do the work correctly. We are frequently called when previous work needs to be corrected, including failing patios, shifting pavers, drainage concerns, unsuitable plant selections, retaining-wall problems, and poorly planned outdoor areas. These situations reinforce why careful planning matters from the beginning.

Our team includes Certified Indiana Accredited Horticulturists and certified paver technicians, bringing valuable knowledge to both planted and built portions of a property. We also stand behind qualifying projects with a two-year workmanship warranty and a one-year, one-time planting warranty.

Whether we are designing a new landscape or transforming an entire backyard, we focus on creating outdoor environments that look attractive, function properly, and support how customers want to use their properties. For Christopher Huser and our entire team, Detail Matters, and so does doing the job correctly the first time.

Principles That Shape the Way We Work

Our Values

Service and Responsibility

Christopher Huser’s firefighter background helped establish a culture centered on serving others and taking responsibility for the work placed in our hands. We carry those principles into each landscape, hardscape, and outdoor living project. That means listening closely, communicating clearly, understanding how customers want to use their properties, and carefully considering the decisions that affect the finished space.

Responsibility also means looking beyond surface appearance. A patio needs the right preparation beneath it. A landscape needs plants suited to the property and growing conditions. Drainage, grading, transitions, and long-term maintenance can influence how an outdoor area performs well after installation. We take these factors seriously because the details that are difficult to see can be just as important as the finished design. Our goal is to complete work we can stand behind while giving customers an outdoor environment built around their property and everyday needs.

Good outdoor work requires careful execution from the first plan through the final details. We bring a disciplined approach to landscape design, planting, paver installation, hardscaping, outdoor kitchens, fire features, and complete backyard transformations. Instead of rushing through decisions, we consider how materials, plants, elevations, drainage, and individual features interact across the property.

Our Certified Indiana Accredited Horticulturists contribute valuable knowledge when selecting and placing plant material, while our certified paver technicians understand the preparation and installation considerations behind successful hardscape projects. This combination allows us to approach outdoor spaces as connected environments rather than unrelated pieces. It is also why we are regularly asked to correct previous work that did not perform as intended. Whether starting fresh or renovating an existing space, we focus on identifying what the property requires and completing the work with care. Detail Matters from the ground up.

Our relationship with a customer does not have to end when the installation is finished. Landscapes change as plants mature and seasons shift, while outdoor living areas need thoughtful construction to continue performing over time. We want customers to know that we take responsibility for the craftsmanship and planting work we provide.

Qualifying projects are supported by a two-year workmanship warranty, and qualifying plant installations include a one-year, one-time planting warranty. These protections reflect our commitment to standing behind our work after completion. We also offer ongoing landscape maintenance for customers who want continued help caring for lawns, garden beds, shrubs, mulch, seasonal cleanup, and other property needs.

After 28 years in business, our focus remains rooted in the same values that shaped Huser’s from the beginning. We work hard, pay attention, communicate clearly, and treat each outdoor project as an opportunity to create something that serves the property owner well for years to come.
